The Sec. 45V Clean Hydrogen Fuel Production Tax Credit, established under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, is intended to eliminate 25 million metric tons of carbon emissions while creating millions of jobs and billions in private investment. The credit may incentivize the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to low-carbon fuels, especially in industries that have proven difficult to decarbonize, such as trucking, steel manufacturing, and cement production. Hydrogen can be produced from diverse domestic resources like solar energy, wind, nuclear energy, biomass, and natural gas.
