Max Van Trojen is a director in the State and Local Tax practice. He has over 11 years of experience in the state and local tax areas, with a primary focus on state income and franchise taxes. He has significant experience in state income and franchise tax compliance and multistate income tax consulting. In addition, Max has worked on a variety of Washington State B&O and multistate sales and use tax consulting projects.
As a director in the State and Local Tax practice, Max's experience has consisted of engagements with large multinational and domestic companies spanning a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, technology, healthcare, and timber.
Max's experience includes:
- Preparing and reviewing state income and franchise tax returns.
- State income tax extension and quarterly estimate preparation and review.
- Technical research, analysis, and advisory on state income and franchise tax attributes (filing methods, nexus, NOLs/Credits, etc.).
- Assisting clients in mitigating state tax exposure through voluntary disclosure agreements.
- Conducting complex multistate apportionment sourcing studies for cutting-edge service-based clients.
- Assisting on Washington State B&O and sales and use tax refund projects.
