Patrick Shine is a director in the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice at Andersen, where he brings a wealth of experience in multi-state tax advisory, audit defense, and compliance. Patrick specializes in helping clients navigate complex state and local tax matters, including research on the taxability of products and services, and identifying potential exposure. He provides strategic guidance on remediation options, including state registrations and voluntary disclosure programs, and supports clients throughout the audit defense process.

Before joining Andersen, Patrick was an experienced manager at Grant Thornton LLP in Seattle, WA, where he communicated directly with clients to assess their business needs and state tax profiles. He managed and developed teams on various state and local tax engagements and provided in-depth technical research on nuanced tax areas. Patrick also played an integral role in business development, identifying new opportunities and preparing client proposals. He previously gained hands-on experience as an extern at the University of Washington School of Law Federal Tax Clinic and Washington State University Student Legal Services, providing legal representation to low-income taxpayers in federal tax controversy proceedings. Patrick is also a published author, with his work featured in Bloomberg BNA Tax and Accounting.
